2011 winter Milan Fashion week models

Milan Fashion week : Dolce & Gabbana's star studded autumn/winter 2011 collection has sparked a little of a micro trend.

Six months ago, during Milan Fashion Week, Italian fashion duo, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana sent 64 'rockabilly’ style models downward the runway, in 'teddy boy' suits accessorized with piano key ties, and star printed dresses in a 50’s style collection

Fast forward half a year, autumn/winter is (in fashion terms) upon us and a Dolce style micro-trend is finding it is way into our hearts and wardrobes.

No, it is not the piano key tie, you will be dissatisfied to hear, but star printed all you can get your hands on. As per usual, it is celebrities and fashionistas most important the way with the cute and unusual, but still sexy, Dolce & Gabbana dresses which have been cropping everywhere.

Smiling out of September's Marie Claire, actress Anne Hathaway is wearing hers, while Kim Kardashian has been marked out in two different styles. British actress Hayley Atwell has taken the glittery trend on the premiere trail for her current releas.

The First Avenger, and both mothers to be Lily Allen and Jessica Alba, has turned to the micro-trend to be-deck their bumps.

Rosemount sydney Fashion Week 2011: Alex Perry

Fashion Week News : Alex Perry's Cuban Princess Collection contrasted men's suiting with jaw dropping floor length gowns.

Described as "crisp upper class", Alex Perry's Spring or Summer Cuban Princess 2011 to 2012 show juxtaposed sharply tailored suit jackets with elegant floor length dresses.

Models sporting high, sleek ponytails sashayed down the catwalk in glowing silks bursting with color. Reds, oranges and purples liberated the shade palette, giving the show a festive, Spanish inspired feel.

"The inspiration was the Cuban Princess, so it was mainly based on the colors of turquoise, aqua, lime, tangerine," Perry said offstage. "I also took some stimulation from men's suiting for the women's jackets."

Perry also said he was looking to do some eveningwear that was "a little more current and a little bit younger in its feel."

"I was annoying to stay away from the classic fishtail dress. But there were a couple of black dresses in there, I just could not help myself!"

Catwalk look for city chic fashion show

The L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival is all about glamour, but unlike most red- carpet fashion events, this one isn't just for the style police.

A front-row seat at a festival show costs A$95 (about NZ$130) and tickets are available to anyone willing to pay for them.

The festival, now in its 15th year, may be for the people, but it's still taken seriously. The celebrities are in attendance, wearing their sponsored frocks and smiling for the cameras, and the shows are extremely polished.

The only real difference between something like this festival and the preview shows of most major fashion  models weeks is that what you see at the festival is what has just been delivered to stores. If you see something you like, you can go out and buy it.

The only exceptions at last week's extravaganza were the opening event, Fashion Full Stop, and a parade featuring the festival designer award finalists.

This year, the prize went to new menswear label Song for the Mute, whose mostly black, mostly wool collection beat off competition from well-known Australian designers Arnsdorf, Bassike and Ellery.
